Teen Board Quotes

Sophia Conti
Student
Lamar High School

Question: My family has dessert with dinner is that okay?
Answer: Sure, as long as it's not your whole dinner, and you don't eat dessert with every meal. Always eat a well balanced meal, and try not to eat sweets during the day especially if you know that you're going to have dessert that night. Make sure you eat your dessert in small portions, a few bites is usually enough to satisfy a sweet tooth!

Maggie Wurzer
Student
St. Agnes Academy

Question: I don't like milk, how can I get enough calcium in my diet so I have strong bones?
Answer: I like cereal with milk, so I sometimes have that for a snack after school instead of for breakfast. Milk products can be added to servings like cheese on sandwiches, or grated cheese on chili. Yogurt can be a healthy alternative to milk frozen yogurt bars are good and healthy, and yogurt drinks are also good. String cheese is another snack that is good and healthy. Drinking milk can also be made more fun with the new cereal straws, or having hot chocolate. Remember to choose low fat dairy products.

Katherine Freedman
Student
Bellaire High School

Question: I am in the 3rd grade and have to take my lunch to school, what should be packed in my lunch?
Answer: A sandwich on whole wheat bread with low fat cheese and turkey is always delicious. Other sandwich ideas are tuna fish, or banana slices with low-fat peanut butter. You can also include a snack with your lunch such as applesauce, low fat-yogurt, pretzels, almonds, or fresh fruit.
